Dingle refereed 198 international matches during his career

Jersey's Dan Dingle has been honoured for his contribution to volleyball by being included in the sport's first ever Hall of Fame.

Dingle has been involved with volleyball in Jersey for 50 years, both coaching and refereeing.

The 71-year-old is one of 48 people inducted into the Hall of Fame.

He told BBC Jersey: "The thing I'm most pleased about is that on the list of other people who have been inducted I'm one of the few who are still active."

He added: "I'm still coaching the beginner groups for the Jersey Volleyball Association, and I take courses for referees both here and on the mainland.

"The game scarcely existed on Jersey when I first got involved, and it is now very much stronger than when I was first involved."
