Nathan Elms
Elms is through to round three

Jersey Surfboard Club junior Nathan Elms knocked out top seed Conner Coffin from the United States in round two of the repercharge at the World Juniors.

He now faces fellow British surfer Alex Baker, and Tahiti's Kevin Bourez in the third round.

But fellow Jerseyman Matt Chapman is out of the competition, beaten by France's Dimitre Ouvre and Kaimana Jaquaishas of Hawaii.

Both Jersey boys are part of a 12-man GB team who are lying in 10th overall.

Nathan's win over the American was by the smallest of margins, just 0.25 of a point. His net combination of wave scores was 8.90.

He said: "I am feeling really good at the moment. The surf is a bit wild but the location is amazing and I'm looking forward to my next heat.

"It's certainly getting tougher here."
