The Jersey badminton team had a mixed start to their 2009/10 National Inter-counties Division Two season with a win and a defeat at the weekend.

They beat Hertfordshire 11-4 on Saturday winning 11-4, taking the singles 3-1, the doubles 6-2 and the mixed 2-1.

But on Sunday, they lost 10-5 to promotion favourites Surrey.

The Division Two side are trying to bring new players through while maintaining their current status.

Jersey next face Kent on 6 December.
