David Stanley thinks the new sports centre will be built within two years

A trustee of the Alderney Sports Centre is confident the project can be completed in the next two years, despite a delay to building work.

The island does not have a permanent indoor sports facility and fundraising in order to build one has been going on for several years.

David Stanley says the recession has slowed progress, but they have not given up hope.

"A couple of years from now is a realistic target," he said.
