Schools and other public buildings have been used to provide accommodation for competitors |
Organisers of the 2009 Island Games are struggling to find accommodation for the 3,000 competitors. The competition is due to take place on the small Finnish island of Aland, but finding suitable homes for the visitors is proving difficult. Organisers have had to create make-shift dormitories in schools and other buildings to accommodate athletes. The Games were last held in Aland back in 1991 when just 1,500 competitors visited the island.
