Jersey proved too strong for Guernsey |
Jersey claimed an historic clean sweep of the volleyball inter-insular titles against Guernsey on Saturday. Both Jersey's men's teams were expected to do well and did not disappoint, the A team winning 3-0 and the B side 3-1. But although historically Guernsey's women have dominated, Jersey's women won both the A and B titles 3-2. Jersey Volleyball president and women's coach Paul Adamson said: "An historic day for Jersey volleyball and one which everyone involved should be proud." He added: "The girls really knuckled down, I was really proud of them." Although Jersey won all four matches, Adamson said Guernsey gave nothing away. "It's always great to play them, they never give up a point at all and nothing is dead until it hits the floor with Guernsey," he said. "We've come to appreciate Guernsey because they're strong and they give us the strong matchplay we need."
