Jersey Champion James Le Moignan in action |
James Le Moignan won an intriguing best-of-five match battle with Hampshire's David Nicholson 3-1 to claim the Jersey Croquet Open. Le Moignan made his way through to the final flowing with confidence after his top eight placing in the British Open. He played with fluency to come through the bottom half of the draw, defeating reigning champion Chris Patmore 2-1 in the semi-final along the way. Jersey Open top seed Tony Le Moignan was forced to withdraw through illness. That left the top half of the draw wide open and Nicholson took the chance and emerged as the second finalist. The final proved extremely interesting but Le Moignan, playing in his first final, had nerves of steel as he took the final 3-1 to become the new Jersey Open winner.
