Williamson won a bronze medal at the 2004 Olympics |
Alison Williamson is leading a strong squad of 14 who are representing Great Britain at the first qualifying event of the 2007 archery World Cup in Ulsan. This week's Korea event is the first of four qualifying legs with the others at Varese in Italy, Antalya in Turkey and then at Dover at the end of July.
The series concludes with a Grand Final in Dubai later in the year.
GB performance manager Barry Eley said: "The men's and women's recurve team is strong with lots of experience."
He added: "I expect them to be very competitive - Alan Wills, Simon Terry, Michael Peart, Larry Godfrey, Alison Williamson, Naomi Folkard and Charlotte Burgess are all very, very good archers who always acquit themselves well at international level, and I expect no difference this year.
"It was fantastic to see Alison taking part in the Grand Final in Mexico last year, and it would be wonderful to have more British representation at this year's final too.
"Our men's compound team of Chris White, Liam Grimwood, Andy Rikuneniko and Neil Wakelin is the strongest we've got, and they are three very talented archers, while Nichola Simpson will be determined to put up another good showing in the women's compound.
"In fairness, Nichola's team-mates, Nicola Hunt and Lucy Holderness, are relatively inexperienced at international level, but this will be a great opportunity for them, and I expect them to stand up very well against top class competition."
