Williamson failed to reach next month's finals |
Hopes of Britain being represented at archery's first ever World Cup Finals have been dashed in Shanghai. Alison Williamson (women's recurve), Nichola Simpson (women's compound) and Larry Godfrey (men's recurve) all missed out in qualifying.
Williamson and Simpson made the last 16 of their events, but that wasn't enough to reach October's finals in Mexico.
Godfrey made it through to the last 32 in his discipline but he failed to overcome Lin Jiang of China.
GB performance manager Barry Eley said: "All our archers were extremely competitive throughout this event.
"I feel we have made enormous progress, so there are plenty of plus points to come from this."
Athens Olympic bronze medallist Williamson fell just seven points short of fourth place after losing out to Yun Hee of Korea.
Simpson came up against the top-seeded qualifier and world number three Jamie Van Natta of the United States.
