Alison Williamson won bronze at the Athens Olympics in 2004 |
Alison Williamson is closing in on an archery World Cup Grand Final place following a silver medal in a recurve qualifying event in San Salvador. The Briton, who won Olympic bronze in Athens two years ago, is just four points short of fourth place in the overall standings after three events.
A repeat peformance in Shanghai in September could seal her place among the world elite in Mexico in October.
Compound archer Nichola Simpson remains in contention after coming joint fifth.
Simpson also helped the British team take the silver medal in the women's compound team tournament in San Salvador.
Larry Godfrey finished eighth in San Salvador, and lies 16th overall, but he is just 10 points off the top four and a medal-winning finish in Shanghai could yet elevate him into the overall top four.
Godfrey was also part of the three-man team that won bronze in the men's recurve team event.
