Nichola Simpson claimed Great Britain's first archery World Cup medal by winning bronze in the women's compound event at Antalya in Turkey. She was beaten in the semi-finals by eventual winner Anna Kazantseva but beat another Russian, Okitabrina Bolotova, in the third-place shoot-off.
Simpson's performance has boosted her chances of making the Grand Final.
She must pick up more points at the two remaining World Cup events to have a chance of reaching October's showpiece.
"It's been a fabulous weekend for Nichola," said Great Britain performance director Barry Eley.
"Qualifiers for the Grand Final are judged on three, rather than four, events.
"If Nichola does more of the same in El Salvador later this month and Shanghai in September, she could be heading for Mexico."
In the men's compound event, Simon Froggatt finished sixth, losing in the quarter-finals to eventual gold medalist Roberval dos Santos from Brazil, while Liam Grimwood was 15th.
In the men's recurve, Larry Godfrey was 11th, beaten by double Olympic medalist Hiroshi Yamamoto.
The Japan star went on to take the silver medal, losing in the final to Korean top seed Park Kyung Mo.
Charlotte Burgess finished 25th in the women's recurve event |
Koreans took four of the top five places in the women's recurve, but the gold went to China's Jialing Qian, who earlier in the competition had defeated Britain's Charlotte Burgess. Burgess was Britain's top women's recurve performer for the second event running, finishing 25th this time.
Olympic bronze medalist Alison Williamson was 35th, with Naomi Folkard 49th.
In the team events, which do not count towards the World Cup, the British men's recurve trio of Godfrey, Simon Terry and Alan Wills took the silver medal.
They stunned Korea in the semis but lost to Japan in the final.
The men's compound team just missed out on a medal, finishing fourth.
