Shenfield swimmer Roberto Pavoni has broken four age-group records at the Australian Open Short Course Championships in Melbourne. The 17-year-old took gold in the 400m individual medley and made the finals in three other events. Pavoni broke eastern region and Essex age-group records in 100m, 200m and 400m medleys and the 200m butterfly. His time of four minutes 13.79 seconds in the 400m medley was seven seconds faster than the regional record. The Essex swimmer is currently living and training at the British swimming offshore centre in Melbourne and is aiming for a place at the London Olympics in four years time Pavoni will next compete at the open water 5km swim at Lake Kawana in October. He will then take part in the Queensland long course swimming championships in Brisbane in mid-December.
