Tommy Carr was pleased with his team's display at Breffni Park |
Cavan manager Tommy Carr praised his team after the 0-13 to 1-9 win over Fermanagh in the Ulster SFC quarter-final clash at Kingspan Breffni Park. "We asked the players to give all they had out there and they emptied the barrel," said Carr. "We were not looking to make substitutions in the second half, which shows how well the team was playing. "We asked for a bit of passion, a bit of heart and Cavan football gave that - Cavan football made a statement here." Seanie Johnston scored five points for the Breffni men, who will face either Donegal or Antrim in the semi-finals. Carr added: "Seanie Johnston produced it in the big game and that's what great players are all about." Fermanagh boss Malachy O'Rourke believes missed chances cost his team at Breffni. "We were not happy with our first-half performance - we had the breeze but we didn't make the most of our possession. "I was happy with our preparations and we knew it would be a tremendous battle. "We just didn't take our chances and in a close match that comes back to haunt you. "But there is no point making excuses and Cavan deserved to win."
