Monaghan's Thomas Freeman was accused of trying to strike an opponent |
Monaghan have succeeded in their appeal against Thomas Freeman's eight-week suspension which had been imposed for attempting to strike with the head. However, Freeman is not yet in the clear as the GAA's Appeals Committee has referred the case back to the to the Central Hearings Committee. There were suggestions that the case had not been processed correctly and that Freeman could still get a ban. If that happens, Monaghan could turn to the Disputes Resolution Authority. Freeman was originally banned for an incident during Monaghan's Ulster Championship defeat by Derry on 24 May. An eight-week suspension would rule Magheracloone forward Freeman out of three rounds of the All-Ireland qualifiers.
