Antrim manager Paddy Bradley with Donegal manager John Joe Doherty after the game |
Antrim manager Liam Bradley was pleased to prove his side's critics wrong after the Ulster SFC victory over Donegal. "I said at the start of the year that we had the talent and these lads have made a breakthrough," said Bradley. "Hopefully we can build on that and use it for the future and also galvanise support for our semi-final tie. "We had a press night on Tuesday and only two journalists turned up so maybe we will get more for the next game but we will have to improve to beat Cavan." "We are only in the semi-finals - we have not won anything - so there is still work to be done in training," added Bradley. Skipper Paddy Cunningham acknowledged that nobody had given his side a chance of overturning Donegal but added that his squad had used that as a motivating factor. "Our first aim was to get promotion and then after losing the League final, we have had a serious month and a half of training and hopefully we can go further." Aidan Gallagher said he thought the Saffrons deserved to win. "This group of players has no fear. We have Sigerson Cup winners and club championship winners and can match any team in Ulster on our day. "The goal killed it off and they were always trying to force that extra pass after that." Man-of-the-match Michael McCann also thought his side were "always in control". "They were pushing things for much of the time," he added.
