McEntee gets all-clear
John McEntee is about to be booked by referee Michael Monaghan

Armagh's John McEntee has been cleared to play in the All-Ireland Final against Tyrone on 28 September.

There had been speculation that the Crossmaglen man might face a disciplinary charge arising from an incident in the semi-final when he appeared to elbow Donegal's Barry Monaghan.

However, a Croke Park spokesman confirmed to BBC Sport on Wednesday that McEntee would be eligible to line out against Tyrone.

When asked whether the incident might be looked at again by the GAC after the All-Ireland Final, the headquarters spokesman said:"I wouldn't think so".

McEntee was booked over the incident and Armagh officials were always confident that the issue would not be taken any further.

If McEntee had been found guilty of deliberately striking an opponent, he would have been suspended from the final.

Earlier in the season Tyrone's Gavin Devlin was landed with a 12-week ban after the GAC studied a video recording of a stamping offence in the National League Division One final against Laois.

Meanwhile, Ciaran Gourley has joined Peter Canavan as a Tyrone injury concern for the big game.

Gourley sustained a shoulder injury in a recent training session and there were concerns that he might have suffered a dislocation.

However, the problem has been confirmed as bruising and officials are hopeful that the defender will be fit for the match.

Tyrone received a boost on Tuesday evening when Peter Canavan returned to light training.

It was Canavan's first session since he limped out of the All-Ireland Semi-Final win over Kerry with an ankle injury.

Since then he has been receiving extensive treatment in an attempt to speed up the healing process.

Canavan did not take a full part in Tuesday's session but the chances of him lining out against Armagh appear to be extremely promising.
