Clarke award out of the blue
Ronan Clarke was Young Player of the Year in 2002
Clarke was one of 12 recepients of GPA scholarship
Armagh's All-Ireland star Ronan Clarke is one of 12 recepients of an GPA/Azzurri scholarship.

Clarke, at present recovering from back and hip injuries, was last season's Young Player of the Year, and is a student at St Mary's College.

Other Ulster football recipients include Derry's Paddy Bradley, Monaghan's Dick Clerkin and Donegal duo Kevin Cassidy, a current All-Star, and Conall Dunne.

Other familiar names include Galway's Joe Bergin with Hurling represented by Gearoid Considine and Brian Dowling.
