Armagh lose unbeaten record to Tyrone
Tyrone 1-09 0-10 Armagh

Cavanagh got Tyrone on the way with the first score
Tyrone finally stripped away Armagh's unbeaten 11-month record with a deserved victory in an exciting Division 1A game in front of 13,000 spectators at Healy Park.

The decisive moment in the game came in the 18th minute of the first half when Eoin Mulligan hit the only goal of the game following good work by Peter Canavan.

The current NFL champions were just too quick for the All-Ireland kingpins who failed to take advantage of first-half wind advantage.

Tyrone managed to go in at half-time with a one-point advantage after they played controlled football into the stiff breeze.

After John McEntee and Oisin McVonille cancelled out Sean Cavanagh's opener for Tyrone, but that goal gave Tyrone a lead which they never lost.

Armagh will make no excuses even though they started with only seven of their All-Ireland winning team.

Playing with a new vibrancy, Tyrone, with young Ryan Mellon superb in midfield alongside Cavanagh, never allowed Armagh to settle on the ball.

A couple of frees by Canavan and points from Amragh trio Paddy McKeever, Barry O'Hagan and McConville kept the game ticking along to the break with Tyrone edging ahead 1-4 to 0-6.

Tyrone managed to stretch their lead to three points midway through the second half with Canavan and Enda McGinley twice firing over.

But with McConville adding two late points it took Tyrone's well-organised and disciplined defence to be at their best to hold out for victory.

That victory keeps Tyrone on the backs of Armagh and are joined in second place in Division 1A by Cork and Kerry.

Donegal 0-08 1-12 Kerry

Donegal's 15-year association with Division 1 football ended at Ballyshannon with a disappointing defeat at the hands of Kerry.

Brian McEniff's men fell to their fifth successive defeat. It was game that they were always chasing from the first whistle.

Adrian Sweeney and Christy Toye put Donegal in the lead early on, but the game turned with the only goal of the game in the eigth minute.

Tony Blake failed to hold a Paul Galvin shot and Declan O'Sullivan tapped in leaving Kerry with 1-05 to 0-05 advantage at the break.

Declan Quill proved a real menace for Donegal with seven points, five from open play.

Donegal, who had Brendan Devenney back in action, just could not raise their game suffiently to close the gap as Kerry ran out easy winners.
