Peter Withnell scored Ballymena's first two goals against Carrick |
Ballymena United striker Peter Withnell could miss Tuesday's TFG Sports County Antrim Shield final against Glentoran because of a hamstring injury.
Withnell limped out of United's 3-2 home win over Carrick Rangers on Saturday.
"Peter had to withdraw and he is a major doubt for the final. An injury like this usually takes two to six weeks," said Ballymena manager Kenny Shiels.
"If he cannot make it we will miss him because he came back after his nose break and has scored a lot of goals for us."
Withnell scored Ballymena's first two goals in the win over Carrick, Paul Evans getting the third. Crawford McRae netted both Carrick goals.
Despite the victory, Ballymena stayed in second place in the Irish League First Division, a point behind leaders Dungannon Swifts who beat Limavady United 1-0 at Stangmore Park.
"It was not a good performance from us," said Shiels.
"For a change a few decisions went for us.
"Carrick battled hard and deserve credit but we have got to do better."
