Adams quits Antrim
Antrim manager PJ O'Hare
PJ O'Hare has had a troubled initiation as Antrim boss
Antrim's Gearoid Adams has quit county football.

Adams believes that he was snubbed by new manager PJ O'Hare.

The 29-year-old defender walked out after being dropped for last Sunday's Allianz NFL tie against Westmeath.

Adams explained that he heard that he had been omitted from the team on Ceefax.

''As I got into the car to go training last Thursday night, I was told that I wasn't in the team,'' Adams told The Irish News.

I thought the manager should have come personally and told me himself

''I was going to get out of the car there and then, but I though there was a mistake or something, so I went anyway.

O'Hare, whose short tenure as manager has been troubled to say the least, confirmed his decision to drop Adams during the training session.

''PJ has every right to drop whoever he wants,'' said Adams.

''I don't disagree with being dropped. I had a terrible game against Limerick. But I was one of many, yet I was the only person dropped from the back line.

''Getting dropped is not the major thing. Right from the beginning, I haven't had a settled place in the half-back line.

''Getting dropped is hard enough, but you can cope with that. Most of all, it was the manner of finding out.

''I thought the manager should have come personally and told me himself.

''I had a feeling from the start that I wasn't one of the names in his major plans.

''After one bad performance I was whipped off.''
