Dunloy produce major shock
Antrim and Dunloy star Ally Elliott
Two injury-time points from Ally Elliott won the semi-final for Dunloy
Dunloy 1-14 1-13 Mount Sion

Dunloy caused a major shock when they defeated hot favourites Mount Sion to reach their third AIB All-Ireland Club hurling final.

The Antrim champions surged past their Waterford rivals at Mullingar in a match of epic proportions.

Leading 1-09 to 0-06 just before the half-time whistle, Dunloy saw their lead evaporate as Mount Sion clambered back to take a one-point lead with a minute to go.

However, two points from Ally Elliott took the Ulster side through to the St Patrick's Day final against Birr who defeated them in last season's semi-final.

Made the running

Although the Munster champions included stars like Tony Browne, Brian Greene, Brian Flannery and Eoin Kelly it was Dunloy who made the running from the off.

Paddy Richmond's 15th minute goal put the Antrim underdogs in charge, but Dunloy allowed Michael White to blast in a goal on the half-time whistle.

Mount Sion, however, came out fighting on the restart, and slowly but surely cut the deficit.

Eoin Kelly finally gave Sion the lead as the game neared completion with some great points.

But the never-say-die Elliott settled the issue for the brave Dunloy side with those two precious points in injury time.

In the other semi-final Birr saw off Athenry 0-15 0-06.
