O'Kane cleared for semi-final
Gregory O'Kane had his suspension reduced to one month
Gregory O'Kane can play in the All-Ireland semi-final

Antrim star Gregory O'Kane will be able to play for Dunloy in Sunday's All Ireland club semi-final after having his three-month ban reduced by the Ulster Council.

O'Kane had originally been suspended for three months after being dismissed in the Ulster club final against Portaferry.

The referee had deemed that O'Kane, a key forward for Dunloy, had deliberately struck with the hurl.

Dunloy appealed the three-month penalty and, after looking at a video recording of the incident, the Ulster Council reduced the suspension to one month.

'Good news'

O'Kane can now play in the All-Ireland semi-final against Mount Sion in the 16 February semi-final at Mullingar.

Dunloy manager Sean McLean said the news had given his players a boost.

"I am pleased because I felt it was a hard call on the day," said McLean.

"I did not think he was going to get three months, I felt it would have been one.

"It is good news for Ulster hurling. Gregory's suspension was not reduced because of any favours.

"It was because the video evidence was looked at. That backed up everything we were saying."
