O'Hare lays down the law
PJ O'Hare previously managed Antrim in the early 1990s
PJ O'Hare's appointment was something of a surprise
New Antrim boss PJ O'Hare is not allowing recent controversy over his shock appointment put him off getting the county up and running successfully again.

O'Hara has wasted little time in gouging out his own brand of management as he runs the eye of candidates for the squad.

O'Hare, a long-time member of the St Gall's club and a highly-regarded coach, pushed aside any talk of disharmony in the ranks.

He believes the negative press has provided him and the Antrim players with the perfect incestive.

I've spoken to all of the players and I've laid it on the line to them about commitment

PJ O'Hare

In particular for O'Hare is the back-up and help for players - a subject that has been in the news recently.

A county draft said that inclusion on a panel is subject to the player agreeing to abide by a policy.

That stated stated that there would be non-recognition of, and non-co-operation with the GPA - the unofficial players' union.

However, O'Hare brushed aside any problems in that area.

''If the players have any problems they'll come to me and I'll sort out any problems that they have,'' said O'Hare.

''I'll not be taking any nonsense from anybody.

''I will make hard decisions and some may not like it.

''The players are getting the best treament as far as I can see. Maybe there are few other things that they can get - but that will happen.

''People are asking what's happening. All that has been said has made me more determined to succeed with these players.

''I'm going to work as hard as I need to work.

''We need to start winning more matches and be come successful.

No problems

''That starts when the National League throws in, not about the first match of the Championship.

''I have not had any problems with the clubs.

''I've spoken to all of the players and I've laid it on the line to them about commitment and the way to go forward.''

Already O'Hare has shown his ruthless side by not including Paddy Logan, John Kelly and Kevin Doyle in a panel of 46 players.

Joe Quinn, who has just recovered from groin surgery, is back in action and joins experienced duo Anto Finnegan and Gearoid Adams in the panel.

O'Hare has also lent heavily on his own club naming eight on the panel.

''To be fair, St Gall's are very strong at the minute. I know them inside-out because I coached them for years.''
