And Gaels manager Seamus Doyle, who announced his resignation after the game, was far from happy with that verdict.

"I saw a tussle on the far side of the field and the Errigal Ciaran player went down," said Doyle.

"I felt he had been involved in the incident and if our player got a red card the Errigal Ciaran player should have got a red card too.

"I thought it was a terrible decision which had a major bearing on the game."

Errigal manager Mickey Hatre was understandably on a high afterwards.

"This is the pinnacle in Ulster club football," said Harte, the newly-appointed Tyrone county supremo.

"The conditions did not lend themselves to pretty football but we dug in and got the result."

Harte said he had not witnessed the red card clash but had seen the injury sustained by Pascal Canavan.

"There was plenty of blood running from Pascal.

"There was evidence he got a clip of some kind and the referee saw fit to send the player off."

Peter Canavan landed three frees in the first half and his brother Pascal also got the first of his two points to give Errigal a four points to two lead at half-time.

Tom Brewster scored Enniskillen's two first half points with well-taken frees.

Brewster scored another free for the Gaels before Rory Judge brought the scores level with a goal on 50 minutes.

Errigal then finished the stronger team and won thanks to a point each from man-of-the-match Paul Horisk and Enda McGinley.
