Eunan's expelled from Donegal SFC
Donegal full-forward Brendan Devenney does not appear likely to win another county medal this year
Brendan Devenney is Eunan's best-known player
St Eunan's have been thrown out of the Donegal Senior Football Championship.

The Ulster Council took the decision on Tuesday night to expel the Letterkenny club from the Donegal competition after getting clarification from Croke Park.

The controversy arose when Ardara objected to St Eunan's player Eddie Brennan, claiming that he had made an illegal transfer.

Donegal threw out the objection so Ardara then appealed to the Ulster Council.

The provincial body then referred the matter to Croke Park for clarification and after getting the information it needed, Ulster upheld Ardara's appeal and threw St Eunan's out of the competition.

No Ulster place

This is the second time in five years that this has happened to the club.

St Eunan's won the 1997 Donegal final but afterwards it was discovered that player Leslie McGettigan had not been eligible to line out and the club lost their title.

St Eunan's now may make a further appeal to the GAA's Central Council while there have also been suggestions that they could take legal action.

Last week it was confirmed that there would be no Donegal representation in the Ulster Championship because the county competition had been held up by various appeals.

Killybegs were thrown out of the Donegal Championship for allegedly fielding ineligible player Peter McGinley.
