McElkennon takes Fermanagh role
Dominic Corrigan has indicated that there could be major changes to the Fermanagh panel
Dominic Corrigan's team were hammered by Kerry
Fermanagh football boss Dominic Corrigan has added former Derry trainer Martin McElkennon to his backroom team.

McElkennon served for four seasons as part of Eamon Coleman's management team in the Oak Leaf County.

He was available to take on a new role after Eamon Coleman's decision to step down from the Derry job in July.

Fermanagh were hammered by Kerry in the All-Ireland Qualifiers after being well-beaten by Armagh in this year's Ulster Championship.

Corrigan has indicated that McElkennon's inclusion won't be the only change to the Fermanagh set-up this year.

Donegal trouble

The Fermanagh boss told the Irish News that a number of experienced players would not be part of his new panel.

"There is a good selection of young talent in Fermanagh. Now is the time to let them in," said Corrigan.

However, Corrigan is hoping to convince Paddy McGuinness to rethink his decision to quit the intercounty scene.

Meanwhile, Cavan forward Jason O'Reilly could be ruled out of football for several months because of a knee injury.

O'Reilly sustained the injury in a club game during the summer and exacerbated the problem in Cavan's All-Ireland Qualifier defeat by Limerick.

After several months of rest, he attempted a comeback in a club game at the weekend but he again broke down.

The Belturbet man is seeing a specialist in Dublin on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Donegal GAA chairman Danny Harkin is once again at loggerheads with his fellow county officials.

Harkin publicly criticised his fellow executive members' decision to refer an appeal by Ardara against their defeat by St Eunan's in the Donegal Football Championship to Croke Park.

This series of appeals in Donegal means that the county will not have a representative in this year's Ulster Club Championship.

"The decision should have been made by our county," insisted Harkin.

There is speculation in Donegal that the other executive members could attempt to put a motion of no-confidence in Harkin at a county board meeting next week.
