Loeb dominated in the mountains of Cordoba |
Sebastien Loeb swept to victory in Argentina to become the first driver to win six successive rounds of the World Rally Championship. The Citroen driver, also the first to register seven wins in a season, dominated the race.
He took a massive 32.7 second lead over Peugeot's Marcus Gronholm into the 6.2km of timed super-special stages.
The world champion made no mistake in the final section to leave Gronholm in second and Petter Solberg in third.
Loeb was in jubilant mood after his heroics.
"A record seven wins in a year and six in a row, that has made me really happy," he enthused.
"The conditions here were really tough with ice and snow. They made it a very difficult victory."
British driver Mark Higgins, who came home in 18th place, was disqualified after the rally finished.
The Subaru driver was punished for an illegal intervention by his mechanics on the final day of the rally.
