Kasprzak was outstanding for Coventry at Brandon last season |
Krzysztof Kasprzak will be the Birmingham Brummies' number one rider when they make their Elite League debut next spring. The 26-year-old from Poland was looking for a new club after champions Coventry were withdrawn from the league. "I wanted it to be a Christmas present, if you like, for the Birmingham fans," team manager Graham Drury told BBC WM. "Krzysztof is a very experienced rider and I really do believe it's a big coup signing a rider of this magnitude." Kasprzak joins the Brummies on loan from his parent club Poole, and follows the signings of Ipswich skipper Danny King and Newcastle's highly-talented Danish youngster Rene Bach. | He will be the captain, he will be the number one Graham Drury on Krzysztof Kasprzak |
"When I originally spoke to Krzysztof, the very first phone call I made, he said he'd heard remarkably good comments and remarks about Birmingham," noted Drury. "His opening sentence was 'I hope you're ringing me to offer me a team place at Birmingham' because he sees it as a challenge coming to a new club in the Elite League. "He will be the captain, he will be the number one, and since everything was concluded contractually he's been on the phone virtually every other day wanting to know about the team." The Brummies hope to fill the four remaining places in their line-up before the middle of January.
