Poole Pirates complete signing of Dennis Andersson
Promoter Matt Ford says Andersson is one for the future
Poole Pirates have made European Under-19 Champion Dennis Andersson their first signing for next season.
The 19-year-old has been closely trailed by Pirates' promoter Matt Ford following his performances for Swedish club Lejonen and Wroclaw in Poland.
Ford said: "I've had him on my wanted list for a while and I'm delighted to make him our first signing.
"He's a rider in the Chris Holder and Darcy Ward mould and someone who will score us points."
Pirate's stalwart Bjarne Pedersen left the club for Eastbourne earlier in the week and Ford says Andersson is a signing for the future.
"Dennis is an exceptional rider and he'll add strength to our team. He is someone we can build the club around.
"I think he will improve quickly in the next year or two. I can see him within the next four years getting into a grand prix and hopefully we can take him to that stage and make him a better rider."
The new rule on team averages means Ford must build his 2011 squad on a points limit of 40 and the Swedish teenager comes into the Pirates' line-up on a four-point assessed average.
"While the final team for 2011 is far from finalised, as I continue to evaluate all the permutations, Dennis fits the bill ideally. His points score gives us the scope to bring him in on a four-point average."
