Ipswich beat Swindon but stay bottom of Elite League

Ipswich Witches produced their best display of the season to beat Swindon Robins 56-37, but stay bottom of speedway's Elite League.

Ipswich closed the gap on Swindon to eight points and the Witches still have two games in hand on seventh-placed Eastbourne, who are ten points clear.

Director of speedway Chris Louis told BBC Radio Suffolk "I don't think the best Swindon side turned up tonight.

"They flattered us a little but it was the right result."

Daniel King, Scott Nicholls and Chris Slabon all made double figures for Ipswich.

Louis has now set the Witches a target of catching Eastbourne and Coventry Bees before the season ends.

"We have got enough meetings and if the team can perform like they did tonight whereby all the riders are scoring, then that goal is realistic," he said.
