Ipswich Witches relegation not on Danny King's agenda

Ipswich Witches rider Danny King says finishing bottom of the Elite League is not an option.

The Witches picked up their first win in six meetings over Lakeside on Thursday, but still remain rooted to the bottom of the table.

King, 23, told BBC Radio Suffolk: "We have to get off the bottom.

"It's definitely not over, we're not going to throw it away now and think we'll finish bottom. We'll keep fighting and we'll stick at it."

Ipswich had to overhaul a 12-point deficit with eight heats to go at the Foxhall Stadium, displaying a grit and determination that has been lacking for most of the season.

King tried to explain what had fuelled their startling comeback.

"Frustration I'm sure," he said. "Everyone's the same, we've got some new boys in who are trying to settle down.

"We didn't have the best of starts but if we concentrate on the back half of the meeting we can learn from that."

The Witches are next in action against fellow strugglers Coventry on 12 August.
