Leadbitter has started all three of Ipswich's games so far this season
Ipswich midfielder Grant Leadbitter will undergo a scan on the ankle he injured against Burnley on Saturday amid fears he faces a lengthy lay-off.
The 24-year-old left Portman Road on crutches after a challenge from centre-half Clarke Carlisle.
Boss Roy Keane told BBC Radio Suffolk: "It was a hefty enough challenge on the boy and he's in a boot, we're concerned he may have chipped an ankle.
"That would certainly rule him out for a long period of time."
He added: "It doesn't look good because Grant's a tough boy and for him to come off he must have been badly injured."
The setback comes at a time when fellow midfielder David Norris felt the side were settling into a new formation.
Town lined up with Luke Hyam behind Norris and Leadbitter in an approach the 29-year-old feels gives him the freedom to roam forwards.
"I think the formation's helped me and Grant," he said.
"We've got Luke behind us and it gives us a bit more licence to be in and around the box and as a midfielder it's always nice to score as well create."
