Roy Keane fires Ipswich Town transfer warning

Ipswich Town boss Roy Keane has urged the club's board to turn talk into transfers at Portman Road.

Keane has found it difficult to bring in new players this summer and admits he does not know why prospective deals have not gone through.

He told BBC Radio Suffolk: "We're doing a lot of talking but supporters don't want to hear that, they want to see players coming in.

"We've been close but getting close to signing a player is no good."

Keane added: "You've got to get the deals done.

"We've been in talks and more talks and more talks. We've had players lined up 12 weeks ago who wanted to sign for Ipswich and they weren't done."

The former Manchester United midfielder brought in Celtic defender Darren O'Dea on loan this week, but it is up front where he needs to strengthen.

Jon Walters left for Stoke City in a £2.75m move this week, while Jonathan Stead and Pablo Counago look likely to follow him out of the club.

Keane confirmed the Spanish striker is in discussions with this weekend's opponents Crystal Palace about a season-long loan move.
