Simon Stead rode for Great Britain in the World Cup final |
Swindon's Simon Stead has apologised to supporters after the Robins slumped to their fifth defeat in a row. Thursday's 53-40 defeat by Poole leaves Swindon languishing second from bottom in the Elite League. Stead told BBC Wiltshire: "It's been a disappointing few meetings but it's not through lack of effort. "With some big home wins we might start seeing some smiles around Blunsden again. For now I can only apologise to the fans." Swindon now travel to Lakeside on Friday without Thomas H Jonasson, who has been given a wildcard into the Grand Prix. Danish rider Morten Risager is being rested after failing to score against Poole during Thursday's meeting. | If everyone did their job then we would have won tonight |
Swindon manager Ronnie Russell told the Robins website: "I'm going to be talking to Morten and I will be telling him I will be resting him, not sacking him, resting him. "I don't know what's wrong with Morten. There seems to be something in the aggression department, sadly it has slipped away somehow." Stead was another who was left unimpressed by the form of some of his team mates. "We can all see where the problem's been tonight. We just had too many passengers and we can't afford that," said Stead. "If everyone did their job then we would have won tonight. "But certain members of the team just didn't pull their weight. That's why we lost."
