Eastbourne Eagles co-promoter Mike Bellerby says fans will grow to support their decision to switch home Elite League meetings to a Thursday. The Eagles attracted a gate of around 900 for their first midweek meeting against Swindon Robins last week. Bellerby told BBC Sussex: "Many tracks have struggled when they changed their race night. "For a first league meeting it was very encouraging and a good start. We're hoping to build on that." He added: "The fans are fully behind us to take things forward. They appreciate the change was forced upon us by the international calendar. "Talking to the fans after last week's meeting, they're really up for it." The Eagles welcome top-of-the-table Poole Pirates to the Arlington Stadium on Thursday. "Poole have got a very good team this year. But we can match them or even beat them," Bellerby said. "If our team ride to their full capabilities there's no reason why we can't cause an upset."
