Nicolai Klindt starred in Wolves' 47-43 win over Coventry Bees in the first leg of the season opener on Monday. Klindt won his last two rides for a 9+1 haul to help the reigning Elite League champions win at Monmore Green ahead of Friday's return leg at Brandon. Joe Screen made a sound debut with nine points, 16 years after he first came within a whisker of joining the club. But the night's star turn was Coventry captain Chris Harris, who won four of his five races for a 14-point haul. New Bees boss Alun Rossiter said: "I have to say Chris was absolutely awesome tonight, both as a captain and also the way he rode. "I've never worked with him before, but what I've seen there really impressed me. "It wasn't about him, it was about the team and I was mightily impressed. "The first meeting is always going to be a tough one and clearly a few people were a little nervous, but I thought there were a lot of positives to come out of it. Once the boys settle down, we'll only get better." | I feel really confident about the coming months Wolves rider Nicolai Klindt |
Edward Kennett won his first two rides, the second of which resulted in a disqualification for Lindgren, who took his opponent off his machine going into the second lap. Rory Schlein also carded two race wins, including a fine effort in Heat 10 when he overhauled Ty Proctor on the last bend, having fought off the challenge of Lindgren. But Klindt ensured that Wolves ended the night in front. "I realise this is a big season for me and I have to do well," said Klindt. "I'm trying new frames on my bikes and I feel really confident about the coming months."
