Home-loving Potters beat Brummies

Stoke Potters kept their unbeaten home league record intact as they gained a 47-43 win against Birmingham Brummies at Loomer Road.

The win was sweet for a Potters side heavily beaten 58-34 three nights earlier by the Brummies at Perry Barr.

"I felt a few decisions went against us," said Potters team boss John Woolridge. "But in the end we dug deep and got the win we badly needed. "

The win took the Potters back up to fourth in the Premier League table.

Birmingham did at least push their hosts right down to the final heat.

Jason Lyons and Tomasz Piszcz went into the last race needing a 5-1 to snatch victory, but both were pipped by home skipper Lee Complin.

The Brummies made light of the absence of Robert Ksiezak through illness, Ludvig Lindgren responding well.

He bounced back from a scoreless night at Sheffield last week to register 11 in the defeat at Loomer Road.

Reserve Richard Sweetman continued his recent form with six points, helping ensure that Birmingham picked up a bonus for losing by fewer than seven points.

Lyons top-scored along with Lindgren with 11 points, Piszcz adding nine, while Jason Bunyan contributed 11 for the Potters.

The Brummies return home to Perry Barr on Wednesday night when they host the Berwick Bandits.
