Allen said he found track conditions tough at Peterborough |
Coventry Bees suffered their second consecutive defeat in the Elite League as they went down 59-35 at Peterborough Panthers on Monday. Olly Allen was the only Coventry rider to win a race when he top-scored with 12 points in heat 12. But he told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire: "We were struggling, had a really tough night and I was caught out by the track conditions." Coventry remain third in the table and face the Panthers again on Friday. Meanwhile, Ben Barker is set to have an operation on his broken leg that he suffered in a World Under-21 qualifying round in Germany on Sunday. It meant Barker was ruled out of the Peterborough clash and Allen believes the news could have played a part in the defeat. "I think losing Ben was a blow," he said. "We all came here, not with our heads down, but we were all disappointed that Ben is not here."
