Wolves-Eastbourne gets rained off

Wolves speedway team

Wolverhampton's home match against Eastbourne has fallen foul of the weather after the Monmore Green track was waterlogged on Monday afternoon.

Contrary to the local forecast, persistent rain continued beyond lunchtime, forcing promoter Chris van Straaten to abandon the meeting.

Wolves supporters were looking forward to congratulating Freddie Lindgren on his opening Grand Prix performance.

The Swede led all scorers in the first event of the year in Prague.

He will be back in Wolves' colours for Thursday's trip to early strugglers Ipswich, and Friday's meeting at Lakeside.

And the club return to Monmore Green next Monday (4 May) when they host local rivals Coventry.
