Leigh Adams came to Britain in 1989 and is now the top rider in the country |
Robins captain Leigh Adams became the first rider to score 10,000 points in British speedway, as he helped Swindon to a 53-40 win over Peterborough. The Australian only dropped one point all night, as the team maintained their perfect Abbey Stadium record in the Elite League this season. Adams told BBC Wiltshire personal records are not as important as wins. "I hope there are a few more points in the bag, but I'm not really worried about records." The win keeps Swindon fourth in the table, and unbeaten around their home track. Former Robins rider Mads Korneliussen was Peterborough's top scorer with a paid 13 points, with good support from Niels Kristian-Iversen.
