Sam Ermolenko is in Wolves' veterans quartet to face Cradley Heath. |
The name of Cradley Heath is returning to speedway for one night only, as a special team assembled for Billy Hamill's farewell meeting. The Californian will lead a four-man squad against a quartet of Wolves veterans at Monmore Green next month. Hamill is joined by brothers Alan and Andy Grahame, as well as Troy Pratt who rode for the Heathens in 1996. The Wolves line-up will be made up of Sam Ermolenko, Ronnie Correy, Graham Jones and Wayne Carter. The Heathens have been unable to find a home in Cradley since they were forced to move out of Dudley Wood Stadium in 1995, relocating temporarily to Stoke the following year. | It's great to have a Cradley Heath influence - Dudley Wood was where it all started for me in England |
A former Heathen himself, Hamill is delighted that the big Black Country rivalry can be restored on 22 March as he makes his final appearance in the saddle after a hugely successful career. "It's great for me to have a Cradley Heath influence on my farewell meeting because Dudley Wood was where it all started for me in England," said Hamill. "Cradley fans also have Greg Hancock to cheer in the main meeting. "I'm sure the old rivalry will be back on the terraces." Double world champion Jason Crump is the latest big-name rider to agree to take part in the main event, joining the likes of Hancock, Leigh Adams and Scott Nicholls.
