Leigh Adams joins Greg Hancock in the field for Billy Hamill's farewell event

Australian rider Leigh Adams is the latest big name to pledge his support to Billy Hamill's farewell meeting in Wolverhampton next month.

Hamill is bowing out from the sport at Monmore Green on 22 March, with a strong field including his fellow Californian Greg Hancock.

"It's all a bit emotional, and that's just sitting here back home thinking about it," Hamill said.

"Leigh's a terrific guy, one of the best riders ever to grace the sport."

Hamill has arranged time off from his new job with Justice Brothers in the States to give himself ten days to prepare for his big night.

This is it, the end of a massive chapter in my life

"I can't believe it's my farewell. This is it, the end of a massive chapter in my life," Hamill noted.

"I guess life moves on for everyone but I'm starting to feel a little sad about it."

As part of the celebrations, the former world champion will be presented with a special DVD by the Trofimov club from Ukraine.

Hamill set the track record of 66.6 seconds at their Rovno stadium back in 1991 when he won the world championship semi-final there.
