Hamill's farewell meeting has seen him assemble a very strong field |
Former speedway star Billy Hamill has booked his protege Ricky Wells to ride in his farewell meeting at Monmore Green next month. American Wells, 17, has just signed for Coventry Bees ahead of the new Elite League season, and Hamill is tipping him for success. "He has the ability and it's an exciting time for him to be going across to England," Hamill said. "I remember when I first went over 20 years ago, it was a massive challenge." Wolverhampton duo Freddie Lindgren and Adam Scornicki have also agreed to join a star-studded line-up for the event on Sunday, 22 March. "I raced with Freddie during my two years with Wolves and he's a great talent, I think he can go to the top," Hamill noted. "Adam is a showman who scored well for Poole last year. He's a good signing for Wolverhampton and I know they're pleased to have him back there." Also confirmed in the field for Monmore Green is young Coventry rider Adam Roynon, Hamill's former Cradley Heath team-mate Greg Hancock, and Grand Prix star Scott Nicholls.
