Late goals from Stephen Hughes and substitute Jabo Ibehre handed Walsall victory and Northampton their fourth straight defeat.

Hughes' goal came seven minutes from time when he raced on to a pass from Michael Ricketts and beat debutant keeper Ron-Robert Zieler.

Ibehre made sure of the points when he raced clear and beat Zieler.

Northampton went close through Andrew Holt, but he headed wide with the goal at his mercy.
