Wolves' Niels Kristian Iversen guns for the Elite League riders' title |
Perry Barr stages its biggest night of speedway since the sport returned to Birmingham as it hosts the Elite League Riders' Championship on Wednesday. The event was abandoned in August because of rain, but a strong field has been assembled for the new date. Two-time world champion Jason Crump is joined by his fellow Australian Leigh Adams and British star Chris Harris. Local interest will be provided by Wolves duo Freddie Lindgren and Niels Kristian Iversen. "This is going to be a terrific night and we're all looking forward to it with great anticipation," said Birmingham Brummies boss Graham Drury. "There's a great mixture of established Grand Prix superstars and talented youngsters with hopes of winning the world title. "It's going to be a treat for the fans and I urge them all to get here early." Tickets from August's abandoned meeting are still valid for Wednesday night (8 October).
