Kyle Hughes secured the Trophy for Plymouth in the penultimate heat |
Plymouth Devils won their first piece of silverware on Sunday as they beat Boston Barracudas 94-88 on aggregate in the Conference Trophy final. The Devils lost the second leg at Boston 60-31, but their 63-28 first-leg win at the start of June was enough to carry them through. Mark Simmonds led the way with 11 points from his five rides, while Kyle Hughes got the Devils' only win. Hughes' victory in the penultimate heat secured the title for the Devils. The win came 48 hours after Plymouth secured a spot in the Conference League play-offs thanks to a comfortable 63-28 win over Buxton at St Boniface Arena. The Devils are three points clear at the top and must wait to see how the Weymouth Wildcats and Boston Barracudas do in their remaining matches to see if they can win the league.
