Captain Shields led the way against Eastbourne with three wins |
Lakeside Hammers have an 11-point lead over Eastbourne after the first leg of their Knockout Cup semi-final. The home side built an early eight-point advantage in the opening six heats, which they gradually increased despite some spirited Eagles riding. Adam Shields won three heats and guest rider Rory Schlein weighed in with an invaluable 11 points. Scott Nicholls and Edward Kennett were the stars for Eastbourne, winning seven heats between them. New signing Kauko Nieminan continued his superb start to his Hammers career, winning his first race for the club in his opening ride of the meeting. The second leg will take place at the Arlington Raceway on Saturday 30 August.
