Van Straaten wants fans' opinions

Speedway

Wolves owner Chris van Straaten has said he wants the club's fans to have their say as the future of the sport's structure in the UK is discussed.

Van Straaten will attend a meeting in August to talk about various proposals, including a possible reduction in the number of meetings in the season.

Supporters will get a chance to air their views at a talk-in on 6 August.

"I'd like to know how the fans feel, this is an opportunity for them to have their say," van Straaten said.

Wolves hold regular talk-in meetings, usually on the eve of every season and van Straaten is adamant he wants to meet the sport's officials with the views of supporters in mind.

A lot of sensible views have been put forward.

He said: "There are a series of meetings planned within the British Speedway Promoters' Association with a view to forward planning.

"There is plenty of talk about the Elite League and the possibility of staging it on one night per week with less meetings throughout the season, I want to know how fans feel about the structure of the sport."

Van Straaten added that a number of fans had already been in touch over the matter.

"I've been in communication with several supporters via email from our official club website and a lot of sensible views have been put forward."

The talk-in for fans is planned for Wednesday 6 August at Chillington WMC, close to Monmore Green stadium.
