Baker struggling to make Open cut

Peter Baker admitted he felt 'pig sick' after seeing his hopes of making the cut at the Open Championship at Royal Birkdale all but end.

The Shropshire-born Wolverhampton golfer fired a second successive round of 75 to finish 10 over par - just outside the projected cut of nine over.

"It was a shocking end really. I lost it really on the back nine. I'm very disappointed," Baker said.

"I did putt a bit better but, overall, I'm pig sick to be honest."

Baker was level par for his second round after eight holes but then carded three bogies in a row to slip to eight over.

He birdied the 14th to pull a shot back but three more bogies followed in the closing four holes to put his participation in the tournament over the weekend in real doubt.
