Lindgren celebrates second place in Sweden's Grand Prix in May |
Wolves skipper Freddie Lindgren is itching to get back on a bike in Monday's World Cup meeting at Coventry after four successive rain-offs. Lindgren lines up for Sweden at Brandon against Monmore team-mates men Niels Kristian Iversen and Ales Dryml. "It's been really frustrating," said Lindgren. "I've had four straight rain-offs and all I want to do is race. "Hopefully the weather will hold for Coventry and we can go to Denmark without the need for a race-off." Great Britain include former Wolves squad member Simon Stead, one of five riders who all have vast experience of the Coventry track. Stead, Chris Harris and Olly Allen are all current Coventry riders, while skipper Scott Nicholls and Lee Richardson are former Brandon favourites. The winner of the meeting goes straight into the final with Australia on Saturday at Vojens, in Denmark. The teams finishing second and third qualify for Thursday's race-off, also in Vojens. Wolves have not now raced since the 52-40 Knockout Cup win over Eastbourne on 23 June, following successive postponements against Swindon, Lakeside Hammers (twice) and Friday's latest cancellation at Peterborough. They are now due to return to action next Monday (20 July), when the visitors to Monmore will again be Eastbourne, this time for an Elite League clash.
